25th Anniversary Photo Contest

We want to recognize and collect good Madera Canyon photographs that reflect the diverse beauty of Madera Canyon. Can we interest you in sending your work to this Photo Contest in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Friends of Madera Canyon?

The contest will award first through third places and honorable mentions in four categories:

● Wildlife
●Botanical
●Landscapes/Scenery
●Young (age twelve and under) Photographer (any subject)

In a separate category, Historical, pictures will be featured and appreciated but not judged. This category seeks pictures taken at least twenty years ago. It invites up to twenty submissions from the same person and offers scanning assistance if needed.

Photographers of all levels of experience are encouraged to enter. One of your pictures, prize winning or not, could be the inspiration for a first visit or a long involvement with Madera Canyon.

Rules?

Yes, there are a few, We've worked to keep them simple.

The submission deadline is March 14th, 2012. Please don't put this off until the last minute. We want to see your pictures so don't want the deadline to sneak up without them being sent.

Photographs taken of or in Madera Canyon at any time by an amateur photographer are welcome. We define amateur as a person whose income from photography is less than half of total income. Pictures must be entered by the photographer or, if deceased, the person who owns the rights. With the exception of Historical, entries are limited to three per category.

Entries must be submitted as JPG's no larger than 3MB in file size with the larger dimension no larger than 2000 pixels. All winners will be asked to supply their highest resolution files for printing and display.

Subject/Caption (optional)
Approximate date of photo

Any interesting information about the picture (optional)

Awards will be announced and pictures displayed on April 14th, 2012 at the Friends of Madera Canyon Anniversary Celebration. We will inform winners as soon as possible beforehand.

Rights and Ownership

In sending your photographs you grant the Friends of Madera Canyon permission to use them or edited versions in print and/or electronic form. In granting this permission you retain ownership of the images and may use them for any or all of your own purposes. In most cases we will credit you when your photos are used.

Special Offer for Historical Pictures

Though the Arizona Historical Society has some good pictures of Madera Canyon we would like to add many more to our local collection..If you have old pictures not in digital format and lack the resources to scan them, we will do it as much as time allows. Please contact us at fomcphotos@gmail.com as soon as possible but no later than February 1st to make arrangements.
